Retail down? Give your consumers a strong mobile shopping app like Amazon

Of the nearly $2.9 billion online Thanksgiving sales, “mobile phone users accounted for 46 percent of visits to e-commerce websites and apps on Thanksgiving and 29 percent of sales, according to estimates by Adobe Analytics, which tracks 80 percent of online transactions across the top 100 U.S. web retailers,”[1] writes Jason Del Rey in an article on Recode.net.

Let’s look at this closer. Almost 50 percent of online visits were on smartphones. The Recode.net article suggests that shopping apps like Amazon that make it easy to complete purchases on mobile are the winners and “stand to gain share as mobile commerce grows.”[2]
